24. INSTALL LOCKING SPACER (1) AND RETAINING
RING (2) ONTO LOW PRESSURE COMPRESSOR
ROTOR SHAFT (3).

Apply shortening compound to low pressure
compressor rotor shaft (3) and place pin (4)
onto shaft (3).
CAUTION
Make sure pin (4) is not dislodged during
installation of locking spacer (1). Damage
to parts may result.
Install locking spacer (1) onto low pressure

compressor rotor shaft (3).
NOTE
Holes in locking spacer (1) should be up.
Try rotating locking spacer (1) in place. If lock-

ing spacer (1) rotates, remove and reinstall
until locked in place.
Install retaining ring (2). with tangs down, onto

low pressure compressor rotor shaft (3).
Align tangs of retaining ring (2) with holes of

locking spacer (1). Bend tangs into holes at
three locations.
