b. Removal. Refer to figure 277 and remove
the oil pan and oil pan gaskets.
PICKUP TUBE, SCAVENGER PUMP IN-
LET TUBE, AND OIL PUMP OUTLET
TUBE
a . General. T h e pressure oil pump and
scavenger pump pickup and inlet tubes carry
oil to the oil pump. The oil pump outlet tube
delivers oil from the pump to the oil galleries
in the cylinder and crankcase assembly and to
all points pressure lubricated within the engine.
b. Removal. Remove pressure oil pump pick-
up tube, scavenger pump inlet tube, and oil
pump outlet tube as follows.
(1) Figure 278. (A) Remove two 1/4 x 7/8
cap screws and 1/4-inch lock washers
securing pressure oil pump pickup tube
to pump inlet. (B) Remove one 1/4 x 3
cap screw and 1/4-inch lock washer
securing pickup tube to pump cover.
FLYWHEEL.
(C) Remove pressure oil pump pickup
tube. (D) Remove and discard pressure
oil pump pickup tube gasket.
