4-8. Difference Between Piston Actuated
and Mechanical Fan Drive Clutch
The basic difference between the piston
actuated and mechanical fan drive clutch is the
redesign of the late clutch to eliminate the
hydraulic disengagement
feature.
The
mechanical design provides complete in-
terchangeability between piston actuated and
mechanical housing
and
cover
assemblies.
However, individual parts contained within the
assemblies are not interchangeable.

Removing
housing
cover
and
bearing
from
vertical
drive
shaft.
1. Position fan drive housing cover (A) on arbor press
using suitable support blocks.
2. Press ball bearing (B) in cover.
3. Install housing cover and bearing on vertical drive
shaft.
