c. Inspect coolant passages (FIGURE 4-87) for deposit build up. Excessive deposits may be cleaned in an acid
tank. Be sure cam bushings are first removed.

NOTE
The block may be cleaned in a hot tank for 30 minutes using a detergent and water
solution without removing the cam bushing. Water temperature should be 190OF (880
c).
d. De-glazing makes the bore "rough" to help seat the rings. The size of the bore is not changed by proper de-
glazing.
CAUTION
New piston rings may not seat in glazed cylinder bores.
