Crankshaft Maintenance Instructions (Cont)
CAUTION
Use care when removing crankshaft pulley.
Do not pry on vibration damper or damage can
occur.
Remove crankshaft pulley (7).

Remove two keys (8).

b. Installation
Lubricate end of crankshaft (1) with

lubricating oil.
Install two keys (2) in end of
(2)
crankshaft (1).
Install crankshaft pulley (3) on
(3)
crankshaft (1).
Install screw (4) and retainer (5).
(4)
Tighten screw (4) to 180 lb-ft (224 Nm).
(5)
Strike head of screw (4) with soft face
(6)
hammer.
NOTE
Some models of crankshafts have a Grade 8
screw. Skip steps (7) and (8) and do steps(8.1)
and (8.2) for those models.
Tighten screw (4) to 300
lb-ft (407 Nm)
(7)
and strike screw again.
(8) Tighten screw (4) to 300
lb-ft (407 Nm).
(8.1) Tighten screw (4) to 450
lb-ft (610 Nm)
and strike screw again.
(8.2) Tighten screw (4) to 450
lb-ft (610 Nm).
