CHAPTER 2
TRANSPORTABILITY DATA
Section I. GENERAL
2-1. Scope
This chapter provides a general description, identification photographs, tabulated transportability characteristics, and data
that are necessary for transport of the LACV-30.
2-2. Description
The LACV-30 is a fully amphibious, flatbed, air-cushion vehicle designed to transport military cargo and equipment in
support of the logistics-over-the-shore (LOTS) mission. It is powered by two, twin pack, gas turbines using standard
aviation kerosene fuel. Left side and overhead views are shown in figures 2-1 and 2-2. The LACV-30, with a basic hull
structure of aluminum alloy, can be disassembled for transport by sections, as shown in figure 2-3. Table 2-1 gives
dimensions and weight of the major LACV-30 sections.
