(3) Measure thickness of bearing shells at point "C", 90 from the parting line as shown in figure 4-45. Place tool
J4757 between bearing shell and micrometer to obtain measurement. Bearing shell thickness will be total
thickness of steel ball in the tool and bearing shell, less diameter of the ball.
(4) Replace all bearing shells if any are thinner than .1530 inch. Figure 4-45. Measuring Thickness of Bearing
