CLEANING
Inspect
for nicks or dents on gasket mating surface.

WARNING
Dry-cleaning solvent used to clean parts is poten-
tially dangerous to personnel and property. Do
not use near open flame or excessive heat. Flash
point of solvent is 138 oF.
Be sure excess gasket material is removed from
mating surface.
Clean gearcase gasket mating surface with dry-cleaning sol-

Inspect gearcase for cracks.
Wipe dry with clean, lint-free cloth (item 6, Appx C).

Inspect bolt holes for damaged or excessively worn threads.

Flush gearcase clean with diesel fuel.
Replace gearcase if damaged.

Clean oil passages with fine cleaning wire.

Inspect components for scratches, nicks, or excessive wear.
