Remove the bearing housing by lifting it straight up. The turbine wheel and shaft assembly should remain in
the turbine housing.
g. Remove turbine wheel and shaft assembly (6) with backplate (7) from turbine housing.
h. Remove backplate from turbine wheel and shaft assembly.

8. Removal of Upper Sleeve Bearing, Retaining Rings, Lower Sleeve Bearing, Thrust Washer Bearing, and Metal
Seal Ring.
a. Remove and discard upper sleeve bearing (1) from bearing housing.
CAUTION
When removing retaining rings, use care that they do not scratch the bore of the bearing
housing.
b. Using retaining ring pliers, remove two retaining rings (3).
