The maintenance codes are entered in the third and fourth positions of

(a) The maintenance code entered in the third position will

i n d i c a t e the lowest maintenance level authorized to remove, replace, and

use the support item.

T h e maintenance code entered in the third position

will indicate one of the following levels of maintenance:

Application/Explanation

- Crew or operator maintenance performed within organizational

maintenance.

- Support item is removed, replaced, used at the organizational

level.

- Support item is removed, replaced, used at the direct support

level.

- Support item is removed, replaced, used at the general support

level.

- S u p p o r t i t e m s t h a t a r e r e m o v e d , r e p l a c e d , used at depot, mobile

depot, or specialized repair activity only.

(b) The maintenance code entered in the fourth position indicates

w h e t h e r the item is to be repaired and identifies the lowest maintenance

level with the capability to perform complete repair (i.e., all

authorized maintenance functions).

This position will contain one of the
