Mica (4) must be cut away clean between segments (5).
k.
Mica (4) must not be left with a thin edge next to segments (5).
WARNING
Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Use only with effective
chip guarding and personal protective equipment (goggles/shield, gloves, etc.).
l.
After undercutting, remove all copper and mica particles with compressed air.
m. Put armature (2) back in lathe and set for 1500 rpm. Use no. 2/0 sandpaper to polish commutator (3) while
armature is rotating.
