Inspect leads for cracked end and shield damage. Replace (Para. 3-162).

Inspect spark plug for burned tip, carbon buildup, cracked insulator, tread damage, missing gasket

and .030 inch gap. Replace if damaged (Para. 3-162).
Remove excess carbon using a stiff brush or equivalent.
