NOTE
Throughout the remainder of this technical manual, turbosuperchargers will be
referred to also as turbos or turbochargers.
1. General. Turbochargers are mounted on the rear right and left sides of all series AVDS--1790 engines. They use
engine exhaust gases to drive a turbine and generate compressed air which is blown at high velocity into the
engine air intake manifold. This turbocharging action maintains air intake pressure at a high level and results in an
increase in engine output power.
