The spur gear may move on pump shaft. This is
not end play. The shaft must move in and out
of the housing.
39. CHECK END PLAY BETWEEN
38. INSTALL GEAR (1) ON SHAFT (2)
PUMP SHAFTS (2) AND HOUSING (6).
a. Coat shaft (2) and bearing (3) with

transmission oil.

b. Install new retaining ring (4).

a. Using drag wrench, rotate input
shaft (8) slowly to inspect gear
teeth (7).
b. If gear teeth (7) are damaged, go
to step 42. If not, go to step 45.
