Install square sealring

86 Install four 5/16-24 slotted lock nuts (1) (spaced

90 degrees apart) to retain pump cover

assembly (2).

Tighten these four nuts

alternately and evenly to 10 pound feet torque.

Install the remaining twenty 5/16-24 nuts and

tighten 24 nuts to 19 to 23 pound feet torque.

85 Install square sealring (4) into the groove on

back plate (5). Install lockup clutch disk (6) on

back plate (5). Install hook-type sealring (7)

onto the turbine shaft. Using sling (1), (25,

table 3-1) install torque converter pump cover

assembly (2). Remove the sling.

NOTE

If balance marks (3) are present, aline the

mark on converter pump cover assembly

with the one on the back plate.
