5-13. General Placarding Requirements (49 CFR 172.504)

The appropriate placard or marking, as shown in figure 5-8, must be applied to railcars or motor vehicles transporting

radioactive materials as follows:

a. Railcars and vehicles containing packages of radioactive material bearing a "Radioactive Yellow III" label (49

CFR 172.504-through 172.519).

b. Rail carload shipments of LSA radioactive materials (para 2-22), and carload shipments of radioactive materials

shipped under the general packaging and shipping requirements described in chapter 4 of this manual (49 CFR 173.425).
