a. Removal. (Refer to figures 4-43 and 4-44).

(1) Remove oil pan in accordance with paragraph 3-37.

(2) Remove oil pump in accordance with paragraph 3-47.

(3) Refer to figure 4-43 and remove two bolts (1) and bearing cap (2).

NOTE

Remove one bearing cap at a time.

(4) Insert a 1/4 inch by 1 inch bolt with a 1/2 inch diameter and 1/16 inch thick head (make from a standard bolt)

into crankshaft journal oil hole. Revolve crankshaft to the right (clockwise) and roll bearing shell (3) out of position.
