INITIAL SETUP

Tools

Equipment Condition

Tool kit, general mechanic's

Engine secured (TM 55-1905-223-10).

rail and marine diesel engines,

Power supply disconnected and

tagged "Out of Service".

Torque wrench kit P/N 3377216

Battery banks disconnected.

Materials/Parts

Starting motor P/N 3904057

Warning tags, Item 21, Appendix C

REMOVAL

Disconnect ground cable from the battery terminal.

Tag each electrical wire to indicate locations.

Use 15 mm closed wrench, remove two bolts (1) from mounting.

Remove starting motor (2) from block.

REPAIR

Repair at this level of maintenance is by replacement of: Starting motor (2).

REPLACMENT

Install starting motor.

Secure by installing bolts (1). Torque to 32 ft-lbs (43 N-m).

Connect ground cables to battery terminal in the proper location as identified by tag.
