REPAIR

Repair consists of replacing bearings (5) and (6), FIGURE 2-16.

a. Removal of bearings:

(1)

Remove screws (11) and remove fan cover (1).

(2)

Remove locking hub (10) and external fan (2).

NOTE

Place reference marks on end plates (3) and (7) and housing for reinstallation alignment.

(3)

Remove thru bolts (12) and end plates (3) and (7).

(4)

Remove the rotor (8).

(5)

Use puller and remove annular bearing (5) from non-drive end of the rotor (8).

(6)

Use puller and remove bearing (6) from drive shaft.

b. Replacement of bearings:

(1)

Install new bearing (6) on drive shaft with a hydraulic press.
