M A I N T E N A N C E ALLOCATION CHART
Section I. INTRODUCTION
B - 1 . MAINTENANCE ALLOCATION CHART.
a.
T h i s Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC) assigns maintenance func-
t i o n s in accordance with the Three Levels of Maintenance concept for
T h e s e maintenance levels: Aviation Unit Maintenance

(AVUM), Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM) and Depot Main-
tenance are depicted on the MAC as:
A V U M which corresponds to the O code in the Repair Parts and Spe-
cial Tools List (RPSTL).
AVIM which corresponds to the F code in Repair Parts and Special
Tools List (RPSTL).
D e p o t which corresponds to the D code in the Repair Parts and Spe-
c i a l TO OIS L i s t ( R P S T L ) .

T h e maintenance to be performed below depot and in the field is de-
scribed as follows:
(1) Aviation Unit Maintenance (AVUM). AVUM activities will be
staffed and equipped to perform high frequency "On-Equipment"
m a i n t e n a n c e tasks required to retain or return equipment to a

serviceable  condition.
w i l l be governed by the MAC, and limited by the amount and
complexity of support equipment, facilities required, and num
ber of spaces and critical skills available. The range and
q u a n t i t y of authorized spare modules/components will be consis-
tent with the mobility requirements dictated by the air mobility
concept.
( A s s i g n m e n t of maintenance tasks to divisional compa-
n y size aviation units will consider the overall maintenance ca-
pability of the division, the requirement to conserve personnel
a n d equipment resources and air mobility requirements. )
(a) Company Size Aviation Units. Perform those tasks which
c o n s i s t primarily of preventive maintenance and mainte-
n a n c e repair and replacement functions associated with
sustaining a high level of equipment operational readiness.
P e r f o r m maintenance inspections and servicing to include
d a i l y , intermediate, periodic and special inspections as
authorized by the MAC or higher headquarters.
Identify
t h e cause of equipment/system malfunctions using applic-
able  technical  manual  troubleshooting  instructions.  B u i l t -
In-Test-Equipment (BITE) , installed instruments, or easy
to use Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
