Tie rod assembly - Replace (Cont)
3-46.
INSTALLATION LEFT SIDE
1. Position one end of tie rod assembly on the left-hand axle and king pin pivot
assembly and the other end on bottom of the tongue assembly and install two bolts.
2. Install two flat washers and slotted hex nuts on bolts. Thread the nuts on
bolts far enough to install new cotter pins through slots in nuts into the hole in
the bolts.
3. Bend the open end of the cotter pins to secure them in place.
4. Refer to paragraph 3-10 for tie rod assembly adjustment.
END OF TASK
INSTALLATION RIGHT SIDE
1. Position one end of tie rod assembly on the right-hand axle and king pin pivot
assembly and the other end on the top of the tongue assembly and install two
bolts.
2. Install two flat washers and slotted hex nuts on bolts. Thread the nuts on
bolts far enough to install new cotter pins through slots in nuts into the hole in
the bolts.
3. Bend the open end of the cotter pins to secure them in place.
4. Refer to paragraph 3-10 for tie rod assembly adjustment.
